By Vittorio Norman It is unfortunately true that many emails go unread and deleted if the profile doesn’t catch the person’s interest. I have a rule. It’s called the 10% rule. If you can get 10% of the women you contact to respond back, you are among the elite. This is 10% of all the women out there using the internet personals, which equals a very large number indeed. After years of trial and error I developed a sixth sense about what kind of profile would get the greatest response. I can guarantee myself a 10% response rate on average. I know that if I hit a response rate of 5% or less I will usually encounter flaky women since that percentage usually means there was barely enough interest to begin with. It’s a subtle point I’ve discovered. So what makes for a powerful profile? Basically, it is sharp writing style, high standards, strong identity, and hidden/thought-provoking communication which can get a woman’s imagination going. Also powerful is the use of the callback principle. State something in your profile which opens the door for her to question you on it, to find out more. This allows you to hook her interest since she is now baited. You may say something obscure and deliberately off-the-walll, like, “I enjoy kickin it back with the punkin patch b*stard kids”, or you may say something extremely sarcastic such as, “The key to a successful harem is…”. The point is that you want to say something which makes her think, “I gotta talk to that guy for x-reason”. This x-reason can be the ice-breaker making the rest flow easily. It’s a way in. You want to convey a powerful identity in your profile. Saying that you like to cuddle and walk on the beach is not going to cut it. If you are coming across as generic that just will not work. Even if you’re just being yourself. Dig deep and elicit your own values and sit down and write a monster which will suck people into your reality. You can start with a point form and from there spin those points into an alluring depiction of what you are about. You must stay away from anything which sounds wussy, supplicative, or generic. Here’s a subtle point regarding how women operate. Even though you may appear to be average to most people, the woman who ends up choosing you does not think that. In her mind you are above average. This is why you need to write something very unique about your identity which a percentage of women will click with. In their minds you are enough outside the norm to compel them to want to know more about you. One single profile expertly written can mean the difference between meeting 50+ women in one year and meeting very few. This is especially true if you have a strong personality which just isn’t apparent right away. You need to fix that to be able to get your foot in the door so that the opportunity is created to go further. And on the internet personals, the profile you use is the single most important way to do this. By Dr. Jamie Fettig To upgrade the current software in your brain you can create external cues to help remind you and reinforce that changes. Create external upgrading cues with all 5 senses involved. Some types of external programming are: Mental visualizations and movies Actual photos and movies Written out goal achieving scripts Subliminal and auditory declarations Subliminal visuals and visual cues Kinesthetic Input We are still on the process of upgrading your non-conscious mind and RAS. Again, you can create some or all of the above external programming to help reset your non-conscious programming. You can actually use movies of when you were slim. You can view yourself being thin. You can generate computer images of you being thing. You can post photos of people’s bodies with your face on them around your environment. You can write out your declarations and goals (written in the positive and now achieved state) and read and look at them every day. You can create subliminal programming, both of your own and others with auditory and visual means. You can create kinesthetic reinforcements to help upgrade the hardwiring of your brain. You do not need to do them all, but you need to do some of them if you want to make a permanent difference in being thin and healthy. A note on mental pictures and movies. If you cannot see the picture of movie in clarity the first time, great. Every day when you imagine the same picture and same mental movies, the pictures and movies will become clearer and clearer. The more detail you will see and the more vivid they will become. When you first begin you are literally creating those details. So to come up with all of the details immediately is something your body and mind have not learned to do yet. You have never “exercised” that muscle to do so. So every day when you are seeing the same mental pictures and movies, you will add more and more detail onto what you had the day before. So even if you do not see defined pictures and movies when you first start, keep seeing the same picture and movie and adding a little more detail every day. Create these external cues to help you keep focused and aware of what you want. The biggest secret to unlocking your true power from within — Not only to being thin and slim, but in all areas of your life. By Julie Williams Herbs are such versatile plants. Their uses include medicinal, cosmetic, as essential oils for aromatherapy, as great companion plants, craft-work and of course to add mouth-watering flavours and aromas in our cooking. I really wonder how some people get by without herbs in their garden. How wonderful is it wander outside and pick a variety of fresh herbs for your main meal?If you havent grown herbs before, just start with some really easy to grow herbs that you find particularly useful. I have an organic garden, so everything is free from chemicals. Most people would use parsley, oregano and thyme. These are very easy herbs to grow. Oregano and thyme may spread a little in your garden and if you let your parsley eventually go to seed you will find new plants (volunteers) pop up all over your garden by themselves. I love this natural process of self seeding. My garden is a little on the wild side. But if you prefer a very neat and tidy garden, dont let your herbs go to seed, or pull out any volunteers growing in an undesirable spot. You can either remove the old plant to make way for new plants or cut off the seed heads. I always let my parsley go to seed. Some seeds make it to the ground, producing volunteers, so I always have enough to cut for culinary uses. The rest of the seeds I dry and also use in cooking. Borage will grow almost anywhere through the warmer months. It is a great companion plant to strawberries, tomatoes and squash. Plus it looks pretty in the garden with its purple / blue, star-shaped flowers. It will also readily self-seed. The chooks love it, so when I have too many seedlings pop up they go to the chooks. Rosemary and lavender have multiple uses. Both can be used in craft. Both attract bees. Both can be grown as wonderful looking and smelling hedges. Grow at least a few clumps of chives or garlic chives. They look amazing when grown in clumps even as a border in your flower garden. Chives look stunning when theyre in flower. Chives have pink, round flowers, while garlic chives have white star-shaped flowers. Grow garlic chives for times when you dont have any garlic, or you want a milder flavour. A good tip is to make sure you keep all mints contained in some kind of pot. If it escapes into your garden it may take over! I love having mint available, so I grow it in an old laundry trough. Lemon balm is another herb that can get out of control. Cutting off the seed heads will keep it in check. A bay tree is a great addition to your garden. You can grow it in a pot if space is an issue they look lovely clipped into a nice shape. Or you can grow it in the ground where it may grow to be a small to medium tree. Once youve grown a few herbs and learn of their many uses Im sure youll be hooked. The herbs in this article are all very easy to grow and propagate, so start with these and try others as your knowledge grows. With a little research you will discover so many uses for herbs, including many wonderful health benefits. They are also excellent companion plants. Some have properties that confuse and deter pests, some attract predatory insects, while others give more vigour or flavour to plants grown near them. Many herbs are also excellent activators for your compost heap. Most herbs are easy to grow, take very little time, space or effort and the rewards are delicious. Good luck growing yours. By Mahapragya Achary There have been twenty-four Tirthankaras or prophets of the Jain religion. The first one was Lord Rishabh and the twenty-fourth one was Lord Mahavir. Contemporary Jainism has Lord Mahavirs pronouncements as the basis. They include some of the principles enunciated by the twenty-third Tirthankara Lord Parsva also. Lord Mahavir preached his doctrine after attaining omniscience. He propounded Religion by giving central importance to the soul. For him, caste, creed and colour were not significant. Religion or Religion came to acquire a comprehensive scope by upholding the principle that casteism is not real. Treating Religion and sect as two separate things reinforced the basic unity of Religion. There can be a plurality of sects but there can be no plurality of Religion. True Religion consists in subduing attachment and hatred. It is the same for everyone and for all times and all places. Lord Mahavir gives us the anekanta Philosophy (non-absolutism) to look at the world. It is a widely used metaphysical concept and is an important method in the quest for truth. According to this theory, you cannot arrive at the entire truth with the help of sense perceptions because senses have their limitations- they can at best arrive at partial truth. Besides, there are as many facets of truth as there are ideas. Therefore, before declaring that a particular idea is false, one must try to discover its latent fragment of truth. This humble but comprehensive viewpoint of the Jain Religion regarding the quest for truth is enough to give it the status of a world religion. Once Acharya Tulsi was camping in Hissar (Haryana). It was a summer afternoon. Suddenly Kaka Kalelkar emerged as if from nowhere. The Acharya wondered how Kaka had come without any prior information. The latter said I was sitting in my office in Delhi thinking about anekanta. While doing so I felt very unhappy about the inactivity of the followers of the Jain Religion. People of all religions are trying to turn their religions into world religions. But the Jains are totally inactive on this front. They have a great philosophy like the anekanta, which qualifies as a world religion, and yet they are least bothered about it. I was distressed by it. I could not contain my grief and it explains why I have come here in this scorching heat. Kaka Kalelkars complaint did not merely have a tinge of grief; it also had a lot of truth. The Jain Religion is a fit candidate for being a world religion. For it supports human unity, explains religion from a non-sectarian angle and concedes partial truth in the doctrines of all other sects. By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=D_Myers]D Myers The ads are on the radio, television, the Internet, even in the mail. They refer to payday loans - which come at a very high price. Check cashers, finance companies and others are making small, short-term, high-rate loans that go by a variety of names: payday loans, cash advance loans, check advance loans, post-dated check loans or deferred deposit check loans. Usually, a borrower writes a personal check payable to the lender for the amount he or she wishes to borrow plus a fee. The company gives the borrower the amount of the check minus the fee. Fees charged for payday loans are usually a percentage of the face value of the check or a fee charged per amount borrowed - say, for every $50 or $100 loaned. And, if you extend or “roll-over” the loan - say for another two weeks - you will pay the fees for each extension. Under the Truth in Lending Act, the cost of payday loans - like other types of credit - must be disclosed. Among other information, you must receive, in writing, the finance charge (a dollar amount) and the annual percentage rate or APR (the cost of credit on a yearly basis). A cash advance loan secured by a personal check - such as a payday loan - is very expensive credit. Let’s say you write a personal check for $115 to borrow $100 for up to 14 days. The check casher or payday lender agrees to hold the check until your next payday. At that time, depending on the particular plan, the lender deposits the check, you redeem the check by paying the $115 in cash, or you roll-over the check by paying a fee to extend the loan for another two weeks. In this example, the cost of the initial loan is a $15 finance charge and 391 percent APR. If you roll-over the loan three times, the finance charge would climb to $60 to borrow $100. By David Hail Set in a marine ecological reserve with sea caves, a kelp forest, abundant wildlife, and the beautiful La Jolla coastline, La Jolla Shores is widely regarded as the best ocean kayaking spot in San Diego. Aside from the general beauty of the area, the outstanding feature is the seven sea caves carved into the 75-million-year-old sandstone cliffs. The neat thing about these caves is that they are set into the water and, excepting Sunny Jims Cave, are only accessible from the ocean. While Sunny Jims may be reached by walking, The Clams Cave, Arch Cave, Sea Surprise, Shopping Cart, Little Sister, and White Lady can only be seen by kayak or boat. You can actually kayak into the caves with the right tide and swell, but it can be dangerous and is not recommended unless you are on a tour with an experienced guide. Now personally, I dont usually go for the guided tours because you end up in a big group of people who want to chat about God knows what and the pace gets set by some couch potato from Cleveland. But as far as kayaking in the reserve is concerned, a guide isnt such a bad idea. He or she will allow you to safely explore the sea caves during proper conditions and will also provide a wealth of information about the local animals, ecological reserve, and kelp forest. Speaking of wildlife, some of the animals you may see include sea lions, harbor seals, dolphins, distant whales in the wintertime, and perhaps a brightly-colored garibaldi or two. Whether youre in a tour or not, expect to spend a few hours on the water as you paddle from La Jolla Shores to the sea caves, La Jolla Cove, out to the kelp forest, and then back. If you opt to go it alone, the rental shops will transport both you and the kayaks to La Jolla Shores beach and return at a prearranged time. They pretty much all have complimentary lockers available and wetsuits for rent in colder weather. Bring dry clothes, a towel, hat, sunblock, sunglasses, etc. Reserve your single or double kayaks at least 24 hours in advance during the off-season and earlier around the holidays and peak summer season. When youre finished in the water, there are plenty of good spots for a picnic at La Jolla Shores, La Jolla Cove, or Ellen Browning Park, and some excellent restaurants in the village within walking distance. If you have the time, you might also enjoy walking south to see the seals sunbathing at Childrens Pool. David Hail is co-founder of local date ideas website NearHere.com. By Shawn Low Using healthy low carb recipes are an important part of your diet success, just as its important to remember to drink enough water helping your body to remove the byproducts of the fat burning process. A healthy recipe provides you with the other essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals that you need to feel as good as you look. Is a recipe healthy just because it contains some foods that are acceptable for a low carb diet? If it were, Id be eating nothing but low carb chocolate and becoming a master chef, making low carbohydrate cheescake recipes! Good, healthy low carb recipes should not only contain low carb foods that taste great, but satisfy the requirements of various phases of your diet. For example, on the induction phase of the Atkins diet, your daily maximum carbohydrates are 20 grams. So in order to keep this recipe and your menu plan for the day designed for maximum health, it would make sense to include recipes with low carb foods that are high in vitamins and other beneficial nutrients. Besides the obvious health reasons for eating a diet, high in nutrients and the necessary vitamins and minerals, there are other practical reasons. Ensuring that there is enough fiber in your meals over the course of the day will prevent constipation on a low carb diet. If thats not a good enough reason all by itself, I dont know what is! Just as you can see the negative changes in a persons health in the movie, Super Size me, the same thing can happen if youre not careful about what your food choices will be on your low carb diet. My best advice is to spend the money on a book or two. And give yourself a week to get started. This will allow you to plan your meals, buy any new groceries youll need and order any supplements, equipment, or information youll need to get the best results possible. The other reason, you should get books on a couple of the low carb plans is to decide on which one best fits your lifestyle and goals. The best low carb diet is the one that you can live with. By Terry Kubiak Coins issued by certain cities or empires took the leading role in dictating which coins were readily acceptable for trade in the Mediterranean lands. One such city was Athens, which established the “Attic standard” that was to be adopted later by Alexander the Great. Silver was used to pay civil servants, soldiers and mercenaries, and it is believed that the latter is the reason that many Greek silver coins were struck in the first place. The non-Greek lands of the Near East issued large quantities of silver coins, most notably the Parthians, Sassanians and Baktrians. These coins vary in style and fabric, the thickness and purity of the planchet on which the coin was struck, and are relatively under valued compared to the more widely collected issues of Greece proper. In Greek mythology, Athena was the goddess of warfare and wisdom. Later known as Minerva by the Romans, she was the goddess of not only wisdom and battle, but of certain crafts and the protector of all cities and states. At birth, according to one myth, she sprang from the forehead of Zeus, the king of the gods, fully grown and dressed in armor. Athena is usually shown wearing a helmet and a magic shield called the aegis. The goddess Athena was not only wise in war but also in the arts of peace. She supposedly invented the plow and taught men how to yoke oxen. Athena’s chief symbol was the owl and in Greek mythology, the owl is firmly linked with Athena who is usually picture with her owl perched on her shoulder. Some say that is why the owl, in modern times, associated with wisdom. Athenian coins were used in exchange throughout the Greek world, hoards have been found as far away from Athens as Babylon, Afghanistan and Iran. The quantity of Athenian coins minted in last half of the fifth century BC, reflect the changed and powerful position of Athens in the eastern Mediterranean, from a small city-state defending itself on land against the onslaught of Darius at Marathon, Athens grew to be the center of an empire whose power was dependent on its control of the sea. From being a partner in and administrative head of the Delian League, Athens became its leader and its many city-state members paid Athens tribute. Huge sums must have been necessary for the commercial activities of Athens port city, Piraeus, construction atop the Acropolis and in the city, financing of the Athenian fleet, and perennial warfare. The money was derived not only from annual tribute received from the Delian League city-states, but from rich silver deposits Athens owned and mined at Laurium, close to Cape Sunium as well. The mines provide the silver that paid for construction of the fleet that destroyed the Persians at Salamis in 479 BC. Common to all issues of the coin are the goddess Athena, in profile on the obverse, and the owl, her constant companion, standing on the reverse, a sprig of olive leaves with a berry above its shoulder. By Linda Weaver Clarke The importance of serving others can never be over emphasized. What are we here for if not to serve our friends and loved ones? The golden rule says, Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. King Benjamin said, When ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God. Thats a powerful statement, but true. How many of us think of others who need us but we feel that we are too busy to help? In the heat of the day, when we are trying to get something done, have we ever answered the call for help when someone asks? If we happen to know someone is feeling down, depressed, and needs our support, do we stop what were doing and give a call to see how he or she is doing or give a helping hand? Following is an unusual story, which will touch anyones heart. Its a story of love and compassion. The Seattle Special Olympics only had nine contestants that were ready to run a 100-yard dash; all of them were children that were physically or mentally handicapped. When the gun sounded, they took off, each one hoping to win the race. Joy filled their souls, as they thought about the reward up ahead and how proud their parents would be if they were the one to win. Every parent and relative cheered them on, calling out their names and encouraging them. One of them would be able to display their son or daughters trophy in their living room for all to see. As they ran, nearing the finish line, one small boy stumbled and fell to the ground. Upon hearing the boy weep, the eight contestants slowed down and looked back. Their hearts went out to him and each one of them turned around and went back and helped the young boy to his feet. All thoughts of winning had left their minds because a comrade was in trouble. A girl with Downs Syndrome kissed him on the cheek and said, This will make it better. All nine contestants linked arms and walked together to the finish line. There was not a dry eye in the congregation when they saw that one act of compassion and love for another. Every one in the Stadium stood and cheered and clapped with tears in their eyes. What really matters in our lives is helping others win. It is not where we serve, but how we serve, and we must serve with love. We have our rewards when we serve, rewards that bring us great joy. During a time of combat, a young soldier asked his commanding officer if he could rescue one of his comrades who was severely wounded. The officer narrowed his eyes and stood a while in thought, and then said, Ill give you permission, but its not worth it. Your friend is probably dead, and youll be putting your own life at risk. Feeling the responsibility for his friend, the young soldier saluted and then proceeded on his way, dodging bullets as he ran, and managing to get to his friend. He hoisted him over his shoulder, and quickly brought him back to the trench. The officer inspected the wounded soldier and then shook his head with grief. Your friends dead. He looked at the young man and saw a red spot on his shirt and added, And youre wounded. I told you it wouldnt be worth it. The young soldier looked into his officers eyes with confidence and answered, It was worth it, Sir. What do you mean worth it? Youre wounded and it was all for nothing. No, sir. It was worth it because when I knelt down beside him he said to me, I knew youd come.
